Cavities · Orthodontics · Sensitive Teeth

Keeping your natural teeth for longer is the best treatment. We remove only as much tooth as needed and recommend only necessary treatment.

General dentistry at Seoulpil Dental Clinic covers restorative and prosthetic care such as cavities, sensitive teeth, root canal treatment and crowns, as well as minor orthodontics to create space before implants and clear aligners. We first consider options that preserve the most tooth structure.

Who it is for

  • Teeth twinge when drinking cold water
  • There is a groove along the gum line
  • I want to check for cavities
  • It hurts when chewing or throbs at night
  • Front teeth have gaps or are crooked
  • I was told I need orthodontics because the implant space is too narrow

Sensitive teeth have several causes

Cervical wear at the gum line, gum recession, cavities and cracked teeth can all cause sensitivity. Worn areas are filled with resin, and where the gum has receded we also consider gum grafting.

Treatments

Cavities · sensitive teeth

Small cavities and worn areas are filled with tooth-colored resin; larger cavities are covered with inlays or crowns.

Root canal treatment

For teeth where infection has reached the nerve, the canals are cleaned and filled to save the tooth.

Minor orthodontics · clear aligners

Orthodontics for gaps or crooked front teeth and for creating implant space.

Before treatment

  • Teeth may be sensitive for a few days after a cavity is removed.
  • Resin can wear or come off under constant force such as teeth grinding.
  • Teeth that have had root canal treatment become weaker, so they are often protected with a crown.
  • Orthodontic treatment time and results depend on how far the teeth need to move.
  • Treatment results and recovery time vary with each patient's oral condition.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave sensitive teeth alone?

Cervical wear does not heal by itself and keeps getting deeper. It is best to find the cause and fill the worn area.

Are resin fillings covered by health insurance?

Resin fillings for cavities in permanent teeth are covered for children aged 12 and under. Otherwise they are not covered, and we tell you the cost before treatment.

Does root canal treatment hurt?

It is done under local anesthesia, so there is little pain during treatment. Chewing may be uncomfortable for a few days afterward.

How long does minor orthodontics take?

It depends on how far the teeth move, usually a few months. We tell you the expected time after diagnosis.

When is orthodontics needed before an implant?

If neighboring teeth have tilted into the gap and narrowed the space, we upright them with orthodontics first, then place the implant.
